ARCATA — Cal State Dominguez Hills remained unbeaten following the second day of action at the NCAA Division II West Region Softball Championships by scratching out a 4-2 win over Cal State San Bernardino on Thursday.

The victory sends the Toros (30-23) along in the winner's bracket, where they'll face Western Oregon  at 2 p.m. Friday. Cal State San Bernardino (35-31-1) takes on Seattle University in an 11:30 a.m. elimination game.

Regina Farfan (17-9) pitched five scoreless innings Thursday, holding the potent Coyotes' offense to five hits and no runs, striking out one and walking none. Kristin Tanaka came in to pitch the final two innings and preserve the win, though she was touched for two runs, one earned, on three hits.

Cassidy Lee (8-9), the first of four CSUSB pitchers, was tagged with the loss after going 3.1 innings and giving up one earned run on two hits.

Cal State Dominguez Hills put a run up on the board in the bottom of the fourth with three singles. Liz Vazquez, who had reached on a fielder's choice, came home on Katie Garcia's single to give the Toros a 1-0 advantage.

Jennifer Tellez' leadoff double was the first of six Toros' hits in the fifth, three runs coming across to account for the rest of CSUDH's production. Tellez scored on an error before Jennifer Frazier and Tanaka each drove in a run with singles.

The Coyotes mustered a rally in the top of the seventh, Tori Beaudette hitting a solo home run to start the inning. Jacquelyn Holtzclaw singled, moved up on an error and Jordan Dahl drove her in with a single before Tanaka induced a foul out to end the game.
