Jacks No. 7 in first regional poll
ARCATA – The Humboldt State women’s basketball team is ranked seventh in the season’s first NCAA Division II West Region poll, it was announced today.
UC San Diego (14-1), who the Jacks defeated 84-80 last week, are the top team in the region. Followed by Western Washington, Seattle Pacific, Northwest Nazarene and Cal Poly Pomona to round out the top-five. Alaska-Anchorage is sixth followed by HSU, Cal State Monterey Bay, Grand Canyon and Chico State in 10th.
The poll is released on a weekly basis until March 3. In assessing the teams, the NCAA Division II Committee considers overall record and in-region record against NCAA Division II programs. The top eight teams in each of the eight regions will qualify for the NCAA Division II Women’s Basketball Tournament.
