ARCATA — Five home games, an NCAA Division I opponent, and an expanded league slate are all highlights of Humboldt State's 2010 football schedule, released Friday.
Coach Rob Smith begins preparation for the fall when his team takes the field for its spring drills, beginning Monday. Four weeks of practice sessions will take place, with a week off during spring break, concluding with a Green & Gold intrasquad game at noon, April 3.
The Jacks open their fall campaign Saturday, Sept. 4 on the road against Division I Cal Poly San Luis Obispo, a program they last played in 2004. HSU makes its home debut Saturday, Sept. 18, with a non-league contest against Menlo College.
An expanded Great Northwest Athletic Conference schedule fills most of the remaining slate, with a home-and-away arrangement against GNAC schools. That schedule includes new member Simon Fraser, sending the Jacks to Burnaby, B.C., Canada for their Oct. 30 conference game.
