Head Coach Joddie Gleason’s Comments
“We are excited to get to the NCAA Tournament.  This was one of our goals at the beginning of the year.  We didn’t play well down the stretch of the regular season and thought our chances to get an at-large bid were slim.  Nobody thought we could win the CCAA Tournament and we did, so right now we are flying high.” … “Having played and won three elimination games just to get here will be an advantage for us as we go into the tournament.  We understand what it is like to, and have played with, our backs to the wall.  We performed under that pressure, which can only help us.” … “We are happy to play UCSD on a neutral court as opposed to at their place.  We knew that if we made the tournament we would play either UCSD or Seattle-Pacific and regardless of which, we would get them would be on a neutral court.  We got the seventh seed and avoided the host school, but to be honest we don’t care who we play at this point.” … “It’s kind of nice to play a known team (UCSD).  It is really a chess match between the two of us right now.  We are trying to figure out what they are going to attempt to do to stop us and we are doing the same thing.  One of our keys for this game is applying defensive pressure.  We have to try to slow them down and force them to do something they don’t want to do.  (Chelsea) Carlisle makes such good decisions that it is tough to slow them down.  If we rebound and take care of the ball we will be okay.  Right now it is “survive and advance” time and we are ready.”
