ARCATA — Sophomore running back Nick Ricciardulli rushed for 95 yards on only six carries, leading the Green team to a 28-6 win over the White team in Humboldt State's spring football game Saturday.

The contest, which used a running clock and lasted only two hours, finishes HSU's spring practice session. It also gave the coaching staff a chance to assess the progress players have made heading into next fall.

"We've enjoyed a very productive spring practice," head coach Rob Smith said. "We accomplished all that we wanted. In this game we wanted to also have some fun,  and we were able to do that and still be productive."

Coming off an injury that cut short his freshman season, Ricciardulli was among the Jacks obviously enjoying himself. His efforts included a 19-yard scamper for a third quarter touchdown that extended the Green team's lead to 20-6.

"It's good to see Nick looking like the type of running back we know he can be," Smith said.

Returning quarterbacks Mike Proulx and Chris Bolt directed the Green offense, Proulx hitting Matt Devlin with a 20-yard scoring pass to open the scoring and Bolt connecting with Devlin on a 17-yard touchdown pass in the second quarter. Bolt ended the day with a 36-yard touchdown toss to junior wide receiver Dirk Dallas.

Proulx finished the day 7-of-15 passing for 69 yards, and Bolt was 4-of-6 for 73 yards. Dallas and Kevin Ramos each had three catches for the Green squad.

Geoff Davis completed 5 of 14 passes for 65 yards for the White team, and Mike Streck-Woodard was the leading receiver with three catches for 44 yards. CJ Porter had two receptions, including a 65-yard pass from Sergio Allen on a receiver-option for the White's only touchdown of the afternoon.

Guy Ricciardulli had nine tackles to lead the Green defense, and Jacob Taylor had seven, including two for negative yardage.
