HIGH SCHOOL: Honored as a second-team All-Bay Shore Athletic League performer and the West Coast Jamboree Division MVP as a senior while leading her team in rebounds per game (8.5) and averaging 16.1 points … as a junior was an Alameda/Contra Costa Athletic League (ACCAL) second-team selection and led team in rebounding (7.7/game) and scoring 14.1 points … named an honorable mention All-ACCAL performer as a sophomore and in her freshmen season was selected the West Coast Jamboree Division MVP … team improved from three wins her sophomore season to 21 in her senior year.
DJ: Majoring in elementary education … interests include poetry, playing basketball with her younger sister, reading and spending time with friends … the daughter of Elaine and Mike Martel … a native of San Leandro, Calif., Destinee Martel was born on December 4, 1990.
